Pies & Supplies

Sunday, August 30 after worship

Everyone is invited to celebrate the upcoming school year at the 2nd Annual Pies and Supplies event on Sunday, August 30 following worship (NOTE: Students, parents, and teachers will be offered a special blessing during worship.) In addition sampling delicious slices of pie at the Pie Festival fellowship gathering, we will be gathering school supplies for local children through a partnership with Family Support Center of the South Sound, which offers coordinated supportive services to unhoused and lower income familes with the mission, Working Together to Strengthen All Families. They (and we) believe that every child deserves the tools to start the school year feeling prepared and ready to learn. They provide new backpacks, water bottles, and school supplies to students throughout our region. See the poster by the welcome carts during worship or in the church lobby during the week and take a donation postcard (or two or three!) to help us meet these school supply needs for families right here in Thurston County. Donations can be brought to the Pies & Supplies event or dropped off in the church entry area anytime between now and Monday, August 31. Thank you in advance for helping us care for our neighbors!

We will also be accepting donations for the 2027 ELCA Youth Gathering next summer which will go towards registration, travel, and lodging expenses for our Good Shepherd youth attendees. Thank you for your continued generosity toward the youth of Good Shepherd!

NEEDED ITEMS: Pencils, Black pens, Highlighters, Paper, Binders (including 3-ring binders), Notebooks, Tissues, Hand sanitizer, Backpacks, Glue/Glue sticks, Pencil pouches, Dividers, Hand/Body wipes. DONATION POSTCARDS CAN BE FOUND IN THE CHURCH ENTRY AREA OR AT THE WELCOME TABLES DURING WORSHIP.
