LENTEN SEASON WORSHIP

WEDNESDAY EVENINGS: 5 PM ATTUNING OUR VOICES• 5:15 PM SOUP SUPPER • 6:15 PM MIDWEEK WORSHIP

5:00 pm Attuning Our Voices to the Songs Ahead: Some of you have shared that it is sometimes challenging to learn worship songs that are new to you when we only sing them once in a worship service.  So, we are going to try something new:  When you are at church for our midweek Lenten soup suppers, we invite you to also spend 10-15 minutes beginning at 5:00 pm to sing through the songs for the upcoming Sunday worship service. Let us share in the delight of singing together!

5:15 pm Soup Supper: Join in for a community soup supper in Crary Fellowship Hall beginning at 5:15 pm (1 hour before the 6:15 pm Lenten Worship services). A variety of soups and bread will be served along with vegan and vegetarian options. All are welcome to share in the meal even if they are not attending worship.

6:15 pm Lenten Evening Prayer: For the five upcoming Wednesday night Lenten worship services, we will be using Holden Evening Prayer (Feb. 25 & Mar. 25) and Bless This Night (Mar. 4, 11, 19). Both liturgies were birthed in the community of Holden Village, as gifts to the whole church.

EASTER SEASON WORSHIP

SUNDAY MORNINGS: 9 AM FORUM • 10 AM WORSHIP • 11:30 AM SUNDAY SCHOOL

Enjoy Sunday Morning Worship at 10 am in Good Shepherd’s beautiful sanctuary. A play area next to the worship area will be available for the youngest among us. A staffed nursery is also available in Room 114. A recording of the sermon will be posted on Sunday afternoon here on the website home page and on Facebook and YouTube. The pre-worship Forum and Children/Youth Activity Time begins at 9 am, Hospitality & Fellowship coffee & treats immediately following worship, and Sunday School (Pre-8th) begins at 11:30 am in Room 114.

Sunday Morning Forums: On Sunday mornings at 9 am, we will have a number of forum presentations on various topics as well as special informational gatherings for the Good Shepherd community for adults and youth. There will also be a free play Activity time for children and youth in Room 114 during the forum.

Activity Time: On Sunday mornings at 9 am, children and youth of all ages are invited to Activity Time in Room 114! The focus will be on building relationships and creative play more than education, with a combination of free play, organized group activities and time for conversation. It will be a lot of fun, and a great way to make new friends and develop lasting friendships at church!

Sunday School: On Sunday mornings immediately following worship, Pre-8th grade children and youth are invited to attend Sunday School, which will include snacks, a Bible story, opportunities for wonder and curiosity, movement, activities and connection. We are looking forward to a year full of learning, curiosity, wonder and delight as we dig into God’s stories and discover more about who God is—together!

Weekly Confirmation and Youth Sunday School Classes: Confirmation will be meeting every Sunday following worship from 11:30 am-12:30 pm (classes are being paused temporarily). Confirmation is the practice of deliberately studying and deepening one’s faith. We learn about the history of the church, the stories and ways of reading the Bible and the practices of the Lutheran expression of Christianity. In addition to learning, Confirmation is focused on building relationships and community that cultivate a life of service. It is open to all youth entering 6th grade and above. During each session there will be time for lessons and discussions, conversation and reflection, creative expressions of faith, and snacks. If you would like to participate in the Confirmation program this season, please contact Heidi Prince at heidi@gsolympia.org. All are welcome to attend lessons regardless of formal participation in the Confirmation program.
