Scout Sunday 2026
February 8, 2026 at 10 am
Scouting America (formerly BSA) Troop 266 and Cub Scout Pack 266 are excited to worship with Good Shepherd at the 10 am Worship Service on Sunday, February 8! There are many celebrations at Good Shepherd, and one of them is National Scout Sunday. We come together to worship and give thanks to God.
We are happy to be celebrating 66 years of continuous Cub Scouting and 37 years of continuous Troop-level scouting at Good Shepherd. Currently there are 35 scouts registered with Pack 266 with 15 adults leading them. They range from kindergarten to 5th grade. There are 49 scouts registered with Troop 266, with 36 adult leaders. The scouts range from 6th grade to Seniors in high school.
As each scout learns more and more about service to God and others, they are all striving to earn the highest honor of scouting, the Eagle Scout Rank. In the last 37 years, 215 scouts have earned the Eagle Scout Rank in Troop 266. Memorable Eagle projects include refurbishing the Tumwater sign board near the brewery property, planting the cherry trees around the church property, and building picnic tables, owl boxes and a fire pit for the Presbyterian’s Garden of Weedin. These individuals not only learned service but showed it by creating their own Eagle plan and leading the project. On average, only 4% of registered scouts earn the Eagle Scout Rank, so this is a rare and special group of scouts! These individuals will be wonderful co-workers among the community of Good Shepherd and beyond.
The scouting values learned and shared at weekly scout meetings, strengthen youth character in the scout’s family, community, and faith. Scouts uphold the values by being reverent in their personal life and respecting other religions. According to Scouting America’s latest data, faith-based organizations account for 42% of the nearly 40,000 units operated by chartered organizations. Roman Catholics are the largest with 3,514 units. Other major sponsors include United Methodists, Episcopalians and various Lutheran and Presbyterian denominations. Nearly 250 units, serving more than 6,500 scouts, are sponsored by Muslim, Jewish and Buddhist organizations.
Thank you, Good Shepherd, for your continuous support by being co-workers in God’s service for the scouting community!
